Bringing a castle garden back to life!

“Butterly AR” is based on the idea of breathing lust and life back into an abandoned place through virtual reality. With the help of AR (Augmented Reality), it is made possible to reveal hidden beauties and new possibilities for the subsequent use of the castle without any architectural changes.

Let a butterfly guide you through the hidden worlds of the castle park, starting with the rock garden, which brings magical historical artefacts to life.

Entering portals

The technical concept foresees the placement of virtual portals in the castle park that can be entered via the AR app.
Interaction within the portals takes place by approaching them: the user makes the rock garden grow through their movements. This intuitive form of influence makes it possible to act without a user interface, which increases immersion in the virtual space.

Tracking takes place via plane detection using Unity AR-Foundation, which enables precise alignment of the portals. In the future, a combination with location-based tracking (GPS/VPS) is planned in order to optimise the application to the local context.
